URL Schemes
URL schemes allow apps to communicate with each other and perform specific actions when certain URLs are opened. These schemes act as special web addresses recognized by certain apps, triggering specific actions within them.
For example, URL schemes can launch a particular app or open a specific screen within an app. Developers often use them to create deep links, allowing users to navigate directly to a particular screen or feature. This is particularly useful for apps with complex interfaces or numerous features.
While URL schemes enhance user experience and app navigation, not all apps support them. Always check an app's documentation to determine if it supports URL schemes and which actions are available.
In Touchscreen Designer, you can easily insert a URL scheme by clicking on the object properties, as shown in the image above.
For more information on supported URL schemes, refer to this document.
After setting up a URL scheme, you can click on the associated entities to navigate to the selected application.
The target application must be installed on the device.
In the example above, we opened the Alexa application on our device.
